Overview of ICCP System

Anodic areas on metallic components lead to corrosion, roughened hull surfaces and deterioration of components such as propellers, with a resultant loss of efficiency.

The ICCP system, developed over many years of practical application at sea, eliminates these anodic areas by means of the impressed current system, which protects against corrosion by impressing a current equal and opposite to the electrical discharge involved in corrosion.

The ICCP system comprises Anodes, Reference electrodes and a Transformer/Rectifier controller power unit and is designed to maintain automatic control of the optimum output current by means of reference electrodes.

The sizes of the components and their positions on the hull are specified according to design parameters which take into consideration the size of the vessel and fluctuations in the protection current likely to be encountered during sea-going service.
